Alright, so just to give you guys an idea what's going on and such... I'm going to have each of you start out in your own personal thread before integrating everyone together. Its a little unorthodox, but I think it'll give me a good chance to have one on one time with everyone who may or may not need it. Before replying to my next post, please be sure to read both threads in the House rules section. Also, I encourage everyone to read each other's threads, but I want you to keep player and character knowledge separate. What I mean is, if in this thread Avery see's an officer go into a room.....even though you, the player, knows that, that doesn't mean that your character shouldn't still go into that room (if he or she was already planning on it). Also, if your character brings up something that he or she shouldn't know (because you happened to read another thread) there will be penalties . I'll be posting a "History" Thread some time later so everyone has an idea of what time period we're in and that sort of thing....but for the time being, we're in the old republic and tensions between the republic and the Sith are high.

Avery found herself of Tatooine, the classical backwater planet. She'd been there for some time trying to scrounge up the latest of parts for her ship. She'd been force to land a few months back due to engine problems, and with the modifications she'd made to the hyperdrive, she needed a very special part. The only problem was the hyperdrive decided to give out nearest to Tatooine. Finding a part of the magnitude she needed would've been difficult enough, but needing to poke through the scrap yards of Tatooine made it all the more difficult.
She had been working for some time, when she was approached by a representative. Representative of what, he didn't say. Word had gotten around that she needed something special, and he assured her that he could procure that item. Avery of course didn't trust him at all, but as more time passed on the crappy hell hole known as Tatooine, she eventually gave in and listened to his offer.
He asked her to perform a simple job, of which she would be briefed on the way to her destination, assuming she accepted. Just one simple job that a woman with her talents could easily accomplish, and he'd make sure her ship was operation and better, if she wanted.
Of course all of that was in the past now, Avery having accepted the job. Little did she know this would be the beginning of it all. Wind whipped through her hair as she hurtled to the ground at alarming speed. If she had known this was part of the plan she might not have accepted, but the time for complaining was over.
Pulling the string on her parachute, it exploded open, cloth billowing out and up. A sudden jerk on her shoulders pulled her up further away from the ground and slowed her decent. Then, she reflected on her mission.
"You'll be dropped in on a private facility. We'll have you going in with a parachute. We have to use primitive means because of the base's defenses. They'd spot a jet pack a kilometer away. We'll be shipping you out to Kabiara. The facility is located on one of thousands of volcanic islands."
Snapping back to the present, Avery dipped below the clouds. The first thing she noticed was moisture, and a lot of it. Remembering what the contact had told her, this planet was foggy and wet most of the time. Ignoring the mild discomfort, she reflected more...
"You'll need to infiltrate the third floor of the base. So we're dropping you on the roof. There is a single access door that shouldn't be much trouble to disable. Find a database access point on the third floor and find the schematics for a ship they're developing. The designation is YT-1930. We need you to copy the schematics and then erase them from their database. Finally, find your way to the lowest basement level and steal the prototype." Without even giving Avery the chance to ask questions, he pushed her away and onto a starship. She spent several days in a cramped cabin until she was pushed out of the airlock and into the damp atmosphere of Kabaira, where she was now.
Suddenly, Avery broke out of the cloud cover. To her surprise, and dismay the building had quickly rose to meet, being only a couple hundred feet above the roof.
OOC: Alrighty! If you would kindly make a reflex save for me, DC 15. If you pass, you land safely on the roof, if not you'll hit hard and take 5 Vitality damage. If you take damage make a Fortitude saving throw DC 15 to decrease the damage taken to 3. Good luck!

[dice=20]+6 = 20 > 15
Avery successfully touched down, allowing herself to roll from her feet to her back in one fluid motion. After smacking the button that released the parachute from her harness, she just laid there for a moment, heart pounding. Finally, she hoisted herself to her feet. Never again! she thought as she kicked the parachute in disgust, then angrily started balling it up. Once it was messily shoved back in her pack, she stood up and started to look at the surroundings.
So far, Kabiara sucked. It was wet, foggy, and pretty much all around unpleasant - especially right after Tatooine. Her body had just started to adjust to the unrelenting heat and harsh desert winds. The moist air was hard to breathe and just added to her foul mood. The island she was on was lush, green, and mountainous. If she had been in a better state of mind, she probably would have taken a second to admire it. But as it was, she just wanted to finish this mission and get off this planet as quickly as possible.
The roof was fairly roof-like - maybe a bit larger than your average roof, but just as flat and just as covered in duct vents. Avery hiked her bag up further on her shoulder and set off in search of a door. On the way, she peeked over the edge of the building - 3 stories before a dropoff to the ocean. Wonderful she sarcastically mused.
As she continued to explore the roof, she started thinking about what she was here to acquire. The ship was a CEC model without a doubt - the Corellian Engineering Company had been making YT-series ships for forever. She shook her head at the irony. She was here to steal from herself. Despite the fact she had been... away.... for a few years, she was still technically the heiress to the company. She knew she had a huge fortune waiting for her back on Corellia - along with a dull job of corporate management, dealing with frustrating board members who wouldn't want to give up power, and probably a Sith or two that would want to finish what they started. It wasn't worth it. Besides, she liked her life now. She scraped out a good living doing something she loved, and apart from a broken hyperdrive and her current location, she had no complaints.
In the back of her mind, she knew that stealing the plans would negatively impact some of the CEC workers. A pang of regret crept up because she had been raised by people like them them and owed them more than she could say. But knocking the board member's credit chips would be completely worth every cent. Taking the plans wouldn't ruin anyone, just really upset the top players. Avery's mood improved a little when she thought of the looks on the board member's faces when they found out about the missing plans. It was enough to put a slight spring in her step.
Her mind switched back to the task at hand. Copy and erase the plans, then steal the prototype. She hoped they had it fully functioning - there could be some quick thinking required on her part if the intended target didn't fly.
She turned a corner and saw the door. It was moderately fortified with a security lock in place. Without missing a beat, she knelt next to the computer port on the right side of the entry. She grabbed her security kit from her bag and got to work.
OOC: Disable Device: [dice=20] + 11 + Master Security Kit Bonus (I think it varies depending on the difficulty of the lock) [rand=659122574608773026524603599682457813879684545112313443794846535]

Avery's quick reflexes landed her with relative ease on the mundane rooftop of the facility. The ground was hard, being made of permacrete and completely smooth. This was odd, especially with the amount of moisture in the air. Over time even permacrete can be eroded by the slow power of water. Looking over the edge, Avery noticed that the building was built directly up against a rocky cliff, falling several thousands of feet below the bottom of the facility. The ocean smelled salty, and even as high as she was, the sounds of waves crashing against the cliffs reached Avery's ears. Looking at the facility itself it appeared as if it was only three stories high. Now realizing why she was parachuted in, her attention was drawn to the far side of the building - the roof entry would allow her easy access to the top floor. A single doorway could be seen complete with electronic lock. Moving quickly to accomplish her goals, Avery successfully used her tools to easily disable the lock. The door opens silently and before Avery is a short stairway. Moving down the stairs cautiously, she quickly comes to the end of a hallway. The first thing she noticed was white. The floors were white, the walls were white everything appeared white. The floors were made of wide tiles, and easily made noise when someone walked. The halls also seemed to enhance and channel the sound of footsteps in all directions. Peering around the corner, Avery could see little more than a long hallway in either direction. OOC: Ok, so here we move into a little bit more strict RPG. You can take however many actions you'd like.....but you can only move your base speed each round. Since you're human that would be 10m. Each square on the map is 2m by 2m....so you can essentially move up to 5 squares a turn unless you run. Also, please be sure to include where your character ends up at the end of your post by giving me a coordinate. I'll modify the map as your character sees and or discovers things .

OOC: Like doors? Those are nice things to have. I don't even want to think about the skills check required to walk through a wall BIC: Avery took a single step. "Clunk...." The sound of her footfall echoed across the corridor. Perfect, just what I needed she though as she put a hand on her blaster and tried to move quietly forward into the adjoining room. OOC: Move to Y8 (I'm assuming that's a door right there - is it locked?). Just in case it's locked: Disable Device: [dice=20]+11 Move Silently: [dice=20]+5 Search: [dice=20]+3[rand=373286528978496808041652222163975029024936491623529677122624125332]

i69.photobucket.com/albums/i77/dog1128/Death%20of%20The%20Force/Maps/The%20Facility/FacilityLvl3Moved-1.jpgOOC: Yeah, i'll add in doors lol. To signify an open door, I'll make it look just like this one. Red across the opening where the door should be, and two black lines depicting the entrance.Avery tried to muffle the sounds of her feet as she walked. And, due to the lack of reaction of the scientists in the room, she seemed to have succeeded. The door opened silently as she approached. The door was made of some metal alloy, and colored the exact same as the walls and floors. The distinction that it was a door was that it was slightly recessed into the walls around it. The door split in the middle and both sections disappeared into the walls around it creating a seamless passage. As the door opened, distressed noises and then an agonized scream reached Avery's ears. Looking around, Avery saw several things. First, along the walls in makeshift shelves were many jars filled with a yellow-red fluid. The jars came in all shapes and sizes (to accommodate whatever might need to be put inside). Suspended in the liquid were various appendages ranging from an entire shelve of fingers to large jars filled with entire legs and arms. The only thing that seemed to be missing were heads. Next, her eyes would be draw to the center of the room where the screaming was coming from. On a simple silver slab, a species Avery wasn't familiar with was strapped down. Two humans, one male and one female, stood over it. The both wore long white coats and white gloves. Wearing so much white they almost seemed to disappear altogether except for their exposed head. The woman with long blond hair was holding a wicked looking instrument. It was long and thin with a curve that came to a sharp point. Listening to the man's instructions she would probe and cut the being on the table. As Avery watched, in one quick and effortless motion, the woman moved the instrument through the being's flesh, cutting off an arm. The creature on the slab remained silent for a few moments before his face distorted with pain and another ear splitting scream reverberated around the room. OOC: Just so you know, the Male scientist is at W12 and the woman is at Y12. I'm working on getting tokens up for everything...so until I do I have to give your coordinates XD

What sort of a place IS this? Avery thought in disgust as she watched the scientist - torturers - slice the being. It turned her stomach to just be in this place.... then she realized there was a CEC prototype here. They were keeping one of THE MOST sublime object in the entire universe locked up in this abomination of a research facility! That just sent her over the edge. Up until that moment, she had been doing this mission as a means to an end. Now, it was personal.
Silently, she unfastened her blaster and set it to stun. She probably should have killed the two evil SOB's, but they might be able to help her find what she was looking for. She would MAKE them talk. She popped off three shots, aimed at all the other occupants in the room. The last was a mercy shot aimed at the patient. Unconsciousness was better than the pain. Avery knew she couldn't leave whoever that was here - even if the being was the most evil person in the galaxy, she would wait to shoot him/her/it until after the bacta treatment. They would get a chance to live - she would make sure of it. Now it was just on him/her/it to hang on long enough to make it out of here.
After the shots left her gun, she quickly walked towards the table, weapon at the ready. If they scientist weren't down, she wasn't going to be caught unprepared.
OOC: Ok... I think i need dice rolled for the three stuns. I also have point blank shot, so I think that might play in somewhere. I don't know. I also don't know what modifier I'm supposed to use, so I'll leave that to you. Stun Man: [dice=20] Stun Woman: [dice=20] Stun Patient: [dice=20]
Move: Y12 [rand=37829285534098744947491152910515757371163344942036479675953742117]

FS man: [dice=20] FS woman: [dice=20] FS Patient: [dice=20] Rounds Stunned woman: [dice=4]+1 = 5 Rounds Stunned Patient: [dice=4]+1 = 5 The man and the woman slump to the ground without a fuss, and the patient's agonized screams end, his body falling limp. The room seems oddly quiet, but in the silence, Avery can sense a subtle pulse. Walking to the table, Avery can see the patient. The species still cannot be determined, and the gender would be even more difficult to ascertain. Looking at the dismembered arm, Avery notices that it is still moving. The tips of the fingers are twitching in rhythm to the pulse Avery noticed before. OOC: First things first, when you make a stun attack roll or a normal attack roll, when using a ranged weapon you add your ranged attack bonus to the dice rolls . So, that would be a +6 bonus to each of the rolls in your previous post. The bonus wasn't needed to hit the scientists....but its good to know none the less for when / if you encounter tougher opposition =p.
Second, based on the fortitude rolls of the people in the room, the male scientist passed, meaning he is only stunned for one round. The female and "alien" didn't pass their fortitude test, so they'll be knocked out for 5 rounds each. [rand=7619994879515548530393491013969332365421957819938081523805961206]

Okay, there is no way that's normal Avery thought as she glanced at the patient. The hand, twitching in rhythm with the disembodied - well, mostly disembodied - pulse was just plain creepy and WAY beyond what she had signed up for. But she was face first in this mess and would hate herself forever if she just turned and left now.
But before she could deal with the patient and his creepy arm, she needed to make sure she wasn't next on the slice and dice list. Carefully, she knelt and checked the vitals on the woman at her feet. Her pulse was present, but slow. The stun beam had affected her strongly - she would be unconscious for quite a while. Quickly, Avery moved around the table (OOC: MOVE TO W12) and did the same for the male. His pulse thudded against her fingers, very strong and very fast. He was out, but not for long. She quickly grabbed the hem of his lab coat and tore it into strips before binding his hands to his feet with a complex, winding loop. When she finished, he was lying on his side, curled into an awkward - and hopefully painful - pinched o shape, face and chest facing out. He would be the one that would help her find what she was looking for.
But, since she had a few more moments before he came back to the world of the conscious, Avery stood up to examine the patient. The arm was just there.... twitching. It completely weirded her out. She had no idea what to do with it, but she felt obligated to do something. So, she leaned down and ripped a couple more strips of material from the mad scientist's coat before sliding the arm right up against its former point of attachment. With some difficulty - the alien was a lot heavier than she though - she slipped the cloth under him and wrapped it around both the arm and the body then tied the ends together with a tight knot. It wasn't a perfect fix - the arm was still off at a slightly weird angle, but it was better than it had been and a WHOLE LOT less creepy.
Avery took one last look at the patient, then turned back to the mad scientist. She placed a solid kick - stronger than it probably needed to be - right in his exposed gut. If that didn't wake him up, she'd keep kicking until it did. She needed some answers.

Facility MapAvery admired her knots, and hoped they would hold. She kicked the man once, and his eyes flew open. Spittle flew from his lips and he gasped for air. He looked up at Avery with hatred. How dare she treat a man of my station like this!? He thought through the pain in his gut. He continued to stare at her, not moving or speaking. OOC: Please make a Spot Check at the end of your next post.

"Hello" Avery said with a sarcastic smile as she knelt to get a better look at the man. "I'm looking for database access point somewhere on this floor, and would be much obliged if you pointed me in the right direction." She smiled sweetly as she bounced the barrel of her blaster up and down in her left hand, clearly in his range of vision.

The man's eyes followed ther barrel of her gun for a few moments before locking back on her eyes. "I think you've been sadly mistaken sweetheart," he said in the same sweet tone Avery was speaking in. Then, his voice turning much more harsh and angry he exclaimed, "You wont make it out of here alive! As he was talking, he managed to get his hands and legs free of the makshift bonds. In a single swift movement, he was on his feet with the same curved instrument that the woman had been holding. It was clear now that the instrument was humming in time with the pulse Avery had noticed earlier. The scientist lunged forward, cutting downward with his instrument. Luckily Avery managed to dodge backwards. The Scientist stood before her, his breath ragged. He was swaying from side to side slightly, brandishing his weapon. OOC: Alright. He got a surprise round on you, now the real combat round starts. Go ahead and roll for initiative (D20+ your initiative modifier). If you get above a 7 you'll get to go first . Be sure to use the combat posting format, please

The scientist yells an obsenity that Avery hadn't heard before and collapses at Avery's feet. Again, he wouldn't be out for long. Avery begins to wonder if he somehow has an immunity to stun effects. In fact, how could she be certain he was even entirly human?
OOC: You successfully stunned him, but again he'll only be out for one round

Avery calmly walked up to him and kicked the weird, pulsating torture instrument away from him. It slid over toward the door and stopped against the corner just beyond it. "Idiot," she said as she looked down at the comatose scientist. "Blaster trumps glowy stick of doom!"
She picked up the bindings and bound his hands and feet together again, double checking the knot this time. She then remembered the woman. Ripping off another strip of cloth, she bound her hands and feet too. The last thing she needed was a surprise attack from behind.
By this point, the entire situation was beginning to get frustrating. She just wanted to get out of here, and the quicker she could do it, the better. So, instead of kicking to wake the doctor up, she opted for a different method. She set her blaster on the lowest setting, one that would badly burn but not seriously injure, and knelt close to his hands and feet. She fired off a single shot, directed mostly at the hands, but with the feet in range as well. Avery was careful not to hit the bindings, not that it would matter much. He would have a hard time standing or handling much of anything for a while.
